Yes, rental shops are available near the lifts. A full set — skis or snowboard, boots, poles and helmet — starts from 30 GEL per day at the base-area shops.

How do I get to Goderdzi from Batumi or Tbilisi?

Goderdzi is approximately 100 km from Batumi via Khulo — around 2.5–3 hours by car. The road is fully paved, but the mountain section requires winter tyres or snow chains. After heavy snowfall, wait until late morning for the road to be cleared.

From Tbilisi: there is no direct winter road. Two options — via Batumi (~450 km, ~8 hours total), or via Akhaltsikhe to Utkisubani by car (~3–4 hours) and then by ratrak to Goderdzi. The ratrak runs daily: Goderdzi → Utkisubani at 09:00 and 17:00; Utkisubani → Goderdzi at 10:00 and 18:00. Pre-booking required: +995 595 91 81 82.

Is there freeride and off-piste skiing at Goderdzi?

Goderdzi is Georgia's premier freeride destination. The resort's signature off-piste terrain — the Enchanted Forest — offers deep powder skiing through old-growth forest at high elevation. This is what puts Goderdzi on the map for serious powder hunters across the Caucasus.

Cat-skiing via ratrak is available for accessing the deepest backcountry zones. Snowmobile tours are also available through the resort.

Is Goderdzi suitable for beginners and families with children?

Yes. Despite its freeride reputation, Goderdzi has gentle beginner slopes near the base and a dedicated tubing and sledging area for children. The resort is significantly quieter than Gudauri — no lift queues on most days — which makes it more relaxed for first-timers.

Ski and snowboard instructors are available on the mountain for private lessons. Equipment rental is available near the lifts.

How does Goderdzi compare to Gudauri?

  • Snow: Goderdzi gets significantly more snowfall. Average summit depth ~230 cm at peak season — the Adjara microclimate delivers heavy, consistent snowfall all winter.
  • Terrain: Gudauri has more groomed piste kilometres (50+ km vs 8.4 km at Goderdzi). Goderdzi wins on backcountry and powder terrain.
  • Crowds: Goderdzi is much quieter. No lift queues on most days.
  • Dining & nightlife: Gudauri has more options. Goderdzi has a small, quality selection.
Short answer: Gudauri for groomed variety and social scene. Goderdzi for powder, freeride and a wilder mountain.
